At the proceedings on mid-week, the defense counsel Mr Fitzgerald told the judge they planned to file various motions to terminate the case before a trial, claiming the legal action was spiteful and that a US attorney was unlawfully designated to handle the legal matter.

The former director's proceedings was originally managed by the original attorney, who left his position under scrutiny from Donald Trump after his examination into another rival - NY AG Letitia James - was unable to file indictments.

Throughout his leadership, James Comey triggered a counter-response from liberal politicians when he announced just shortly prior to the 2016 presidential election that he was investigating political contender Hillary Clinton's use of a non-governmental email account. Indictments against Clinton were not pursued, leading to disapproval from the Republican party as well.

They say he provided false information to the Senate by stating he had not authorized an individual at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to disclose to journalistic entities data about the government examinations.

Government lawyers also allege the defendant of "corruptly endeavoring to sway, block and impede" the legislative group by providing untrue information to it.

Personal Comments

These allegations against Mr Comey came after Donald Trump shared on digital channels insisting on his attorney general, Ms Bondi, take legal action against Mr Comey and other people.
